Shapes and Circles

Today, I tried merging shapes in Storyline, something I actually have not tried before, but what I will definitely do again.

Before actually creating something, I played around with the funtionality, understanding what each part does. This picture shows a quick overview, only missing one functionality: the "exclude" option, which is the opposite of the "include". Exlude will delete all that is overlapping, where include will keep only that part.

I created a candy shape using a combination of "Exclude" to create some see-through stripes and "Union" to give the candy a typical twisted wrapper look.

This shape was created fairly quickly, and I believe that if you spent some extra time on it, you can really create some fun things! I was not sure how to use my newly created candy shape, first considering to create a short e-learning about how unhealthy candy is, but who's looking for that?! So I ended up making a fun animated cover.

I used "Exlude" again, to create a window to a picture of candies, then I added a bunch of candies that are falling during the first 10 seconds you have the screen open. Please note that some of our candies fell out of their wrappers, the animations weren't perfectly aligned, but after fixing a few, I decided that wasn't worth my time.

Finally, I created a candy bar as a start button. My favorite part? It has some dimension to it, since I also used merge shapes to cut into a rounded rectangle to create some highlights and shadows. Can you spot them?

Let's say, I now understand fully what the potential is! I'm excited to add this new skill to the rotation while creating new Storyline modules.
